why hot tensile test & impact test of materials is required?

typical of duty.

If they were used in cold temperatures, a cryogenic impact test would be called for.

Carbon steels possess the property of low temperature embrittlement wherein as the temperature decreases the impact toughness of the mateial also decreases..hence if a an equipment is made of carbon steel and is meant for low temperature sevices then the MOC should be checked for its impact properties at MDMT..
