To filter the transformer oil, it is necessary to vacuum the oil from the transformer into the filtration and drying equipment. This is done to remove carbon residue, moisture and gases mixed in the oil.

In one of our substations, a series of DGA (dissolved gas analysis) tests showed 'warning' readings on ethylene and methane gases. We had to do offline vacuum filtration for 3 days to bring the high readings to normal levels.
