ASTM Equivalent to JIS G3131 SPHC

02/16/2009 10:15 PM

I'm currently trying to find a correspondence to

JIS G3131 SPHC

( Hot-roll mild steel plates, sheet and strip) Versus ASTM (NOT sure what #) Our client right now wants ASTM requirements for his welding, but we use JIS, Is there any way I can find a match between what ASTM goes with JIS3131 SPHC? Thanks

What is the ASTM compatible or equivalent standard of JIS G3131 SPHC

this material is hot rolled sheet strip and plate :

GradeSPHC
StandardJIS G3131
CountryJapan

Chemistry

Element

Symbol

Max.

CarbonC0.15
ManganeseMn0.6
PhosphorusP0.05
SulfurS0.05

As sheet/strip this would chemically meet astm a 109, probably astm a570, possibly grade 1012 to astm a 635 if heavy thickness; if plate, astm a 6 and astm a36 structural are possibilities; a 20 if pressure vessel. These are possible nominal equivalent standards to investigate. They do no t take into account mechanical propoerties, grain refinement or caster practice.

Just nominal possible std equivalents' happy hunting.
