Generating 500-Hz Three-Phase Sinusoidal Signals

02/20/2009 8:20 AM

i have to generate a 500hz three phase sinusoidal signal having 1.5A of current and an amplitude of about 16.7Vp.

i wish to generate this signal in the most effecient way possible so i decided to generate it using microcontroller. as far as i have searched, i found avr as the most suitable microcontroller for this operation but i havnt worked with this controller.

any guideline or suggestion for generating desired signal???

This can be done with all analog components and no programming.

Build a 500Hz sinewave oscillator and feed it to a power amplifier rated 20V and 2A.

Take the output of that amplifier and feed it into a lag (RC) filter that will lag 120 degrees at 500 Hz. Feed that to a second power amplifier.

Take that output and feed it into a lag filter that will lag 120 degrees at 500 Hz. Feed that to a third power amplifier and you're done.

Should take 20 components max excluding power supply, heatsinks, enclosure etc.

thanks for sending an easiest way of generating three phases

but im facing certain problems in generating required power signal.

the power amplifier is able to amplify only signal current but not the voltage which is being attenuated by the passive rc lagging networks.

i thought to add a voltage amplifier before the power amplifier but the supply available is just 15v or 28v. the voltage amplifier which i simulated was op07 based. with a supply of 15v it is unable to amplify the signal upto 16.3(the required peak) while the op07 is unable to be driven with 20v.

i thought to add a voltage regulator to regulate 28v input into 20v but unfortunately such a regulator is unavailable.

can u suggest any solution to this problem?

You have to build a 500 Hz modified phase-shift oscillator

like this one:
