VHDL Coding for Space Vector PWM

02/24/2009 5:05 AM

hi everyone....my vhdl coding contains many sine and cosine formula because of that after burning it to FPGA kit it is not working.... I enquired that FPGA kit doesnt accept any trignometric functions ...So if any one is having vhdl coding which is sythesible kindly send it to me.......thank you so much

What you need is a CORDIC function. Google it for more info. If you go to www.actel.com you can download a free copy of the LIBERO FPGA s/w. In it you'll find sine and cosine functions that it can synthesize for you. Just pick out what you need, have LIBERO create the code, and then you can import it into your design.

Hi...I have a query regarding this libero Fpga s/w which you recommended for me...I may use Xilings FPGA (spartan II ,spartan III, vertex IV) because only these versions are available in our college lab, so will that s/w support these version or not???

The VHDL synthesis tool generates generic VHDL code, so you can use it for any FPGA.

Another tried & true method is to use a lookup table (pre calculated) of the Sine and Cosine values, naturally you'll make use of all symmetries to reduce the table size.
