Software Architecture

11/08/2006 9:35 AM

I am new to the software architecture world and was having one of those conversations which sounded like another language to me today...Thought one of you gurus would be able to enlighten me. I heard terms like CR1, CR2, blades, and figuring out what capability I would need for my planned software load. Could someone translate?

Thanks

I hadn't heard those terms, but my curiousity caused me to do a quick search:

CR2 is an file extension, for which one application is as 'raw image file - Canon cameras'.. I assume CR1 is another of the same. There are thousands of possible extensions that can be put on a file. (you can make up your own, so long as you have or can write software to use that format...)

'blades' is a new type of server architecture, promising lower cost and higher power; basically an extensible set of cpu boards as I was able to glean in a few min of reading. Check this website, or do your own search?
