Hi there,

You can try the globalspec website for reviews on the valve.

I can say that in a lasrge petrochem plant we only used Masoneilan and Fischer control valves. They were simple to setup and maintain as well as being very robust.

Personally - I am not a big fan of them, but they get the job done and provide years of service - if you maintain them properly.

You could also try the masoneilan web site.

Regards,

Craig

Thanks for answering my question.I was hoping to find someone with some hands on experience on these valves rather than googleing or looking at the manufacturer's web site(they tend not to advertise problems) so far five out of the six positioners on these valves are not working properly. Again thanks for the the answers

Hi there,

What do you mean that the positioners are not working properly?

I have not had any problems with them when I have used them. There are a few things to note though (I do not know about the newer range - only the older version)

You must make sure you have the cam in the correct position.

You can change the action around by changing the actuator position (butterfly type)

You can change the failure position by changing the pilot

The procedure we used was to make sure the valve stroke wwas correct. i.e. without the positioner 20 - 100kPa gives correct stroke travel with propper seating takeoff and full open. From there use the linear cam and set the positioner calibration - pay attention to your mid - point i.e. 50% otherwise you will have years of trouble.

Once you have done this you can put the required valve cam back in and your valve should work with no problems. I do know that you need very clean, dry air for these valves as their relays (air) and pneumatic components do not like dirt at all. You must also make sure you have a regulator etc and constant IAS pressure.

You must also make sure that you have no leaks and that the actuator diaphragm is ok.

Please provide more data on the problems you are experiencing - is the valve hunting with constant signal etc etc?

Other than that - they were very robust and I did not have many problems with them at all - again though it is not my favorite valve.

Regards,

Craig
