In this case, absolutely/technically nothing - the two specifications are identical.

In general, ASME certified materials are designated with the 'S' prefix in order to explicitly identify that they are approved with ASME.

They both share the other common numbers so that cross-referencing is a lot easier.

Whenever you are fabricating to an ASME code, you must ensure you have the 'S' prefix, because in some cases the two specifications are a little different, and also, some straight ASTM 'A' materials are not approved by ASME.
