SA-420 WPL6

ASME Sec VIII - Div 1 (2007 - 2008a)

Minimum tensile strength 60,000 psi

Minimum yield strength 35,000 psi

Maximum temperature allowed: 850F

Allowable stress:

  • -20 to 650F: 17,100 psi
  • 700F: 15,600 psi
  • 750F: 13,000 psi
  • 800F: 10,800 psi
  • 850F: 8,700 psi

NOTES:

G10 Upon prolonged exposure to temperatures above 800F, the carbide phase of carbon steel may be converted to graphite. See Appendix A, A-240.

T1 Allowable stresses for temperatures of 700°F and above are values obtained from time-dependent properties.

W14 These S values do not include a weld factor. For Section VIII, Division 1 and Section XII applications using welds made without filler
metal, the tabulated tensile stress values shall be multiplied by 0.85. For welds made with filler metal, consult UW-12 for Section VIII,
Division 1, or TW-130.4 for Section XII, as applicable.

For material Seamless & Welded Fittings, ASME SA420, Grade WPL6, the allowable tensile strength "S" per UG-23 can be find from ASME code, Section II, Part D as follows:

• at -20 t0 650 oF : 17 100 PSI

• at 700 oF : 15 600 PSI

• at 750 oF : 13 000 PSI

• at 800 oF : 10 800 PSI

• at 850 oF : 8 700 PSI
