Beam Press

03/10/2009 11:03 PM

I am starting on conceptual design of a beam press. It will have 2 cylinders applying the load 300kN each.
The press will act like a simply supported beam at both ends loaded with 2 equal loads.

Stress s= -Wx/Z
and s = -Wa/Z

What is the stress required to have plastic deformation?

Thanks for your help.

The stress required to have plastic deformation is just over the yield strength of the material you are testing.
