Pictures of Welds

03/11/2009 3:33 AM

Hello,

can anyone help me find pictures of the folllowing things:

1) Welding shall have 100% fusion

2) Welds shall have no cracks.

Right now we are testing to see if we fit this acceptance criteria. We have our own welding but we're not sure if we can match.

Please help, thanks!

Hi,

you can find lots of resources here.

for your pics, first those with no complete fusion:

those gives you an idea of what a 100% fusion should appear. below is a microscopic view of a 100% fusion weldment.

welding cracks:

and in photo:

HTH!

I wonder what causes those cracks. Wrong electrode for the material to be welded? Dousing/quenching after welding? Fatigue bending?

This is an extremely well presented answer from somebody who obviously took the time to connect the dots and put it together for the questioner. You have my vote for good answer.
