What's the Best Material for Collets?

Dear friends,

Could any body help me what is the material that can be used for manufacturing collet & what is the hardness needed?????

Try 4140 it is relatively cheap and easy to heat treat. Hardness should be at least

45 to 50 Rc.

You may be able to use a cheaper high carbon steel and surface coat it with tungsten carbide to get higher life of the collet. If you need more information on this please send me an e-mail giving the details of the collets to technovationsintl@gmail.com
