FOOTINGS OK?

03/17/2009 5:40 PM

POURED 10" DEEP FOOTINGS IN GROUND FOR NEW CONSTRUCTION. USED REBAR STAKES DROVE IN GROUND FOR LEVELING. POUR WENT WELL, BUT CONCRETE CRACKED @ MOST OF THE LEVELING STAKES. IS THIS NORMAL?

No. Did you prepare, mix and set the concrete correctly?

If you didn't, well then you haven't got a leg to stand on!

Perhaps I sould give more info. Cracks were 3 to 4 inches long, about 1/2 inch in depth. Cracks went with footings long ways and not across the footing. Code calls for 6 " footings. Poured footings on hard ground. Several contractors have informed me they should be fine. Since my footings were poured 10", I am hoping they will be fine. Anything to add?
