You'll need to determine how much of the fumes are being produced. The airflow must be sufficient to reduce the fume concentration to fall within local environmental protection codes.

Hello,

It really depends on what the odor is coming from. If it is from purging compound or just standard purging of a barrel it will need a small 4" dia tube which the molder positions over the source for the few minutes it takes to purge the barrel. There are systems offered by Plastic molding machinery suppliers. You can use their specs for your basic enquiry and then buy some tubing and use a 6" dia extraction fan to exhaust the fumes to atmosphere. This is common practice. A plant I know has 45 molding machines ranging from 100-2800 ton molding machines passes California Bay Areas Air Quality Standards with a cheap exhaust fan over each machine. Only used during purging.

If the odor is the general smell of plastic being processed then that would be almost impossible. Similar to asking a bakery not to allow the aroma of freshly baked bread to be smelt by anyone. What a shame it would be!

a few questions:

what is your product?

can you describe your manufacturing process?

what chemicals are used?

do you know exactly where the odor is coming from?
