Time to empty a tank

03/19/2009 1:37 AM

Hi folks,

have a tank of 0.13 m Lenght, 0.34 m Ht and 0.13 m Width.

The fuid is lube oil.

The outlet nozzle is 1 inch and the static head above the nozzle is 0.3 m.

Hw much time is required to empty the tank?

What are the formulas used?

Thanks

Why it smells of home work?

at 13cm x 13cm x 34 cm (6"x6"x1') with 1" drain looks to be abnormal .

Anyway Hint (even for homework)

- Flow through pipe - Q depends on static head (H), pipe friction, pipe diameter and Kinematic viscosity of fluid.

- Head is variable and Ht= H - Q(converted into cross section area)

- Solve these two equations. and submit to your professor for review and grading.
