What role do aggregates play in the effectiveness of drilling fluids?

I assume that you are a salesman, and a damn good one, since you have a job in an industry about which you are ignorant.

Ground walnut shells are abrasive. You figure it out.

Isn't there someone in your company you can ask? Who sells you the shells?

I consider myself an above-average salesperson because I strive to understand the nuts & bolts regarding any product I offer to better assist my customers. I am simply new to this industry & product.

The answers I have received internally have not satisfied my need to fully understand the application and the purpose of the abrasive components.

Wow, this is quite contrary to response I expected. Please don't lump all salespeople into the "Shuck & Jive" category. And yes, I will continue to pursue the answer with or without your assistance.

Didn't mean to be so short, but, I still can't understand. Is there no Product/Project/Process/Sales person (notice I didn't say Engineer) who would be willing to help you understand the product and performance of same.

I am a registered user. I'm just working from home and 1) did not have my password handy, 2) even though I am openly displaying my ignorance, I did not want this to be viewed as a "plug" of any sort.

If there is a Product/Project, etc. I have yet to find it. I'd love to view this process and perhaps that's the next step. I'm a hands-on kinda guy.

From what I have gathered our aggregates are used to aid in the viscosity or to add texture to the solution. The weight seems to be a key factor here as shell is a light aggregate. Not being a chemist or scientist many of the technical documents I find are over my head. I can speculate based on context about many of the statements I read, but I might as well assume I grasp it, and we all know what assuming gets us.

They say ignorance is bliss and I'm a pretty happy guy as long as it doesn't effect the information I pass on to others. I'm reaching out because others, (customers & associates), generally come to me for technical details believe it or not.

And yes, I'm a CR4 addict and have learned a lot here. This forum would have changed my career path had it been available 30 years ago.
