Started with the company want to have relatively large capacity of booster pump but no enough space is available. We search idea for finding solution with very limited space available. Finally we construct very simple inline booster pump 700 lps - 30 m head - 300 kw, using mixed flow type vertical tube pump. Only 30 days needed for construction of those inline booster pump on the top of existing 800mm pipe bridge abutment (2x4 m2). Construction start on 22 Dec 2008 and finish by 23 Jan 2009. VFD 340 kW is used and controlled by inlet pressure transmiter, oulet pressure transmitter, insertion probe meter & ampere current transducer. Control system is using simple PLC and remote operation by SMS text message.
Total project cost is $500,000. Most is for purchased 2 unit of vertical tube mixed flow pump.
Noted that we used mixed flow pump, not the propeller type.
This type of pump have relatively higher head compare to propeller type and pump curve characteristic quite close to centrifugal pump.
