Freon R-134a Reclamation unit

03/29/2009 2:35 AM

We would like to find an economical way to reuse the same Freon by the mean of reclamation. Reclamation is the re-processing and upgrading of a recovered controlled substance through such mechanisms as filtering, drying, distillation and chemical treatment in order to restore the substance to a specified standard of performance.

We are using a refrigeration system known as the Economic Refrigeration Cycle to remove liquid hydrocarbons from the process gas by cooling the process gas after passing through the Chiller. As Freon degraded, the system will be recharged with fresh Freon refrigerant R-134a.

Freon appliance recycling is available for items such as refrigerators, freezers, air conditioners, and dehumidifiers. Bring your appliance to the Hazardous Materials Facility at 3400 South Walnut Street. The appliances are then picked up by a company who safely recovers the Freon and recycles the unit. When Freon containing appliances are disposed of properly, it keeps our environment healthy by keeping chemical contaminants out of our air, soil, and water.

Well, the best idea what I can think of right now, to reuse it in air conditioners.

(It´s soon summer)

Most off the shelf and portable refrigerant reclamation units are meant to filter and dry the refrigerant. They use desiccants, activated charcoal and various other compounds to clean and filter the refrigerant. Distillation is not normally an option. In the refrigeration/ AC industry, most of our refrigerant is recovered than sent back to a dedicated re-prosing company, via our wholesalers. If you are looking for something in the low capacity range for on site use I suggest, going to "Yellow Jacket/ Ritchie Engineering" company.
