Pole/mast foundation design

03/30/2009 2:09 AM

Hi All,

Does anyone know about UIC ORE design for pole/mast foundation ? This is OCS pole for railway. I have searched the net but in vain. I have in my possesion the templates indicating the depth and diameter for the corresponding moment , but I dont comprehend the basis of the design . There is a K value given for various soil unit weight. How does this K derived?

What I know is the Broms method which is either using numerical or graphical i.e taking into account the passive earth pressure to counter the overturning moment. The mast is likened to be a pile either short or long which is determined by stiffness factor.

Regards

Defining K will make your query clearer. Are you referring to coefficient of permeability or to soil coefficient, or any other thing?

Hi

The K does not refer to any soil coefficient. K is dependent variable to shear strength of soil , condition of slope , diameter of pole , the lateral load , the overturning moment.
