I remember, reduce voltage apply on it by below half at the least. empty load condition. test.

How much capability?

You said

in our country we haven't scope in this type of test.

1) Do you have any lab that can carry out this test ?

2) Are you procuring the transformer locally or getting it imported.

3) Is your supplier having the capability to carry out the impulse test ?

The impulse test is the testing for insulation of the transformer to take care of high voltage surge, that will be typically taking place in case of a lightning hit. so you understand that it is important at your latitude and longitude .

In this test a surge (high voltage of short duration) - the voltage between 5-30 times the rated voltage and very short duration (it reaches the peak in approx 1.5μs and decays to half value in 40 μs) is applied (typically capacitor discharge)

Check the standards for impulse testing must be IEC codes (60076 or 60060) or IEEE standards (C57.98)

If you don't have the facility, I propose getting it tested at vendor works.

The following guideline may be taken for transformer testing

Dear Guru,

Thanks a lot , I have checked your links , then again write this forum, if more needed . Our electric consultant is not avialable (during his leave ) . This is vendor responsibility , but may be without(only some test in locally) test they will supplied .

I am really happy , that link.

Get it witnessed (we do) either by you or if it is imported get through some recognised certifying agency.

You are welcome.

BTW- specify the transformers in MVA and not MW (you must have taken your generation capacity ? Fr5 ? )
