How to Design a Pump Impeller

I want to know what is the thumb rule for design or develop Pump Impeller..

Put your thumb on a phone book and call up a supplier.

(It has taken them years of trial and error and CFD analysis to perfect their designs)

Agreed, but if he wants to know some more, then a quick rule of thumb can be found by reading about 350 pages of Centrifugal Pumps - Design & Application by Lobanoff and Ross and if that is not clear enough he can try 400 pages of Centrifugal and Axial Flow pumps by Stepanoff and then ----------

Find a pump the size and volume you need then look at there spec sheet and copy there design.
