Tan Delta Testing

What is use Tan Delat Testing? Why They doing tandelta? Most Reason days every one using automatic Tan Delta Testing but i need some one explain how to caculate manually?

tan delta testing is taught in basic electrical engineering and quite a bit on electrical machine designs.

PS: This is homework.

PS: Even worse, he could have searhed, but he got most of the tanδ measuring instruments and hence the last part, But homeworks don't encourage using of equipments they give values and asks you to calculate,

In real life we use equipments to measure.

He should know, but not from us, from his textbook.
