Serrated Gasket Faces and Flanges

04/17/2009 4:00 AM

Any one clear me what should be the physical height of Serration is to be on gasket face of any flanges.I found in ASME B 16.5 BUT not clear to me.In standard it is mention that Surface AARH SHOULD BE 3.2 TO 6.3 micrometer.

Means if we are going to measure serration height what it should be ?

1. already advised to other guests, the Title should be attractive

A "help " people may not look at. And then you don't get a response. A better title could have been "Flange Finish AARH meaning" or something like that.

2. AARH = Arithmetic Average Roughness height

It is the average height of the peak from the valley.

and it is the Ra value.

Pl look at these attachment for some fundamentals on finish (Just for knowledge , may not be related )

few pages

also may look into these especially the first one
