You would have to define flame proof.

There is a simple approach: put you're desired laptop in the flame proof enclosure which corresponds the requirements for the area where you want to bring the laptop in.

Forget the aspect laptop.

But forget the aspect flameproof: do you really need the laptop to be flameproof?

What you want is a laptop which you can bring into an EX classified zone.

This exists: google EX laptop.

Price tag: ridiculously expensive, even more when you look to the performance.

Hazardous area-rated laptops (which is what I believe you mean) are prohibitively expensive and not common at all, also I believe they are only rated for dust and/or the lowest gas zones (gas exposure levels). What is the application? If you are after a control or monitoring system that uses a windows (or similar) based operating system then you want an HMI panel or system.

What zone do you want to use this in (Zone 1, Zone 2, etc)? ATEX or IEC hazardous area certification? Gas (including group) or dust certification required?

More information is required to answer this question.

I would suggest you check the performance criteria of the Panasonic Tough-book line of computers.
