Reactance

How to calculate the reactance of the machine( alternator) ?

Alternator Name Plate :

6000KW/ 7500KVA , 11000volt ,394Amps , 0.8 power factor.

Alternator rating plate data are insufficient to calculate its reactance.

Best is to measure it or get the data from the manufacturer (these are also usually available on the catalogue.

You also have the following types of these and all are critical

Sub Transient

Transient

Synchronous (or steady state)

Zero sequence

(-ve) sequence

of course all of these have a specific pu range.

I don't have manual or any catalogue.

Any other method or instrument to find out the reactance of the machine.
