Seeking Research Grant for Development of Transmission Lines Inspection Robot

04/24/2009 4:25 AM

Hi,

I am Koh Seng Yau, a fresh graduate from the School of Mechanical Engineering of Universiti Tenaga Nasional (UNITEN) in Malaysia. I am planning to pursue further studies in robotics in the Master program. Upon starting my Master program, I will be continuing research on the Development of Transmission Lines Inspection Robot, a research project currently on hand. This inspection robot can navigate power transmission lines completely unattended by human operator and its ultimate purpose is to automate the inspection of power transmission line equipment.

The development of this kind of project though it's rare but it's not unattainable in Malaysia and is deemed to have spacious room for improvement and progress. Recently, this project has been selected to take part in the 2nd International Conference on Control, Instrumentation and Mechatronic, a conference where researchers, scientists, academicians, engineers working in areas related to automation, process, scientific research and analysis exchange knowledge.

Hence, the purpose of posting this short write-up is to seek funding from companies or organizations that are interested in the development of this project. The budget for developing this project is estimated to be around RM 200,000 (approximately USD 50,000). A detailed proposal may be sent or mailed upon request.
