Nokia 5110 - Empty Screen

04/26/2009 5:58 PM

I have a nokia 5110 and I thought of reviving its battery. I bought a 4 cell blister Ni-Mh, R3 rechargeable. Only used 3, for the original battery was 3.6 V. Took old cells out and replaced them with the new cells, respecting the polarity, and the fuse at its place.

The problem is that the screen doesn't show anything. I also charget the battery separately. I thought the phone would not recognise the new battery but the screen and the keypad lights up when pushing the power button. It does not tell if the battery charges or not when pluged in.

The thing is that the last time was used it worked; but 2 years ago the battery died, so I decided to do .....this.

Any idea or experience with this sort of problem? Could this be a software problem?

If you replaced all the cells correctly then there should be no way the phone can "tell" that you've changed them.

I don't know where you are but I guess there are deals like this most places:-

that's about 1½ US dollars: I know they're going to sting you for P & P so why not get a couple.

Thanks for your answer.

I found the problem; there was a problem with the screen's contacts. Just a light push on the edge of the screen solved it.

Now it works fine.
