How do I determine how to cost out site cleanup after house fire. Is there a formula on a square foot basis? something other? Anyone know how to do this? or a contact to direct me to please?

bouvdog,

When you say "site cleanup", what exactly do you mean?

Are you looking to raze any remaining structural components of the house, excavating the foundation walls & slab, and backfilling / compacting the resultant hole with clean fill material?

Alternatively, are you looking to raze whatever is still standing, and using the debris as backfill on-site?

Or are you looking to salvage the structure, having the interior cleaned by a fire restoration contractor, and then rebuilt as necessary?

Each of these alternatives have significantly differing costs...

Just my $0.02...

Thanks. To clarify: Building was totaled. Cleanup and dispose of all debris: charcoal, partially burned wood remenants, glass, metal. Pick it up, dispose of it, leave a clean site to rebuild upon. On a steep hillside a clear bulldozing won't work with stone retaining walls etc. All hand work shovel, scrape, etc.

I'd leave it to the insurance company, after all, they are picking up the bill.<Cough>

The insurance company isn't going to pay anything they don't get billed for. They try not to pay even then. I am asking if any one out there has any information on the standard formula used to cost out the post fire site cleanup.
