Kenmore Elite Gas Dryer Paddle Loose

05/10/2009 2:46 PM

Inside the dryer one of the paddles or fin-type things is loose. Can I glue it?

Thanks! M.A.

Pop rivet it in place with some High temp. epoxy.

Thank you. Trying to understand the process. I can wiggle the paddle but it is still partially attached on one end. Do I need to remove the paddle 1st and do I need to open up the drum? Not sure how to access.

Are there flanges on outside of the paddle edge? If so, get a pop rivet kit with some appropriatly sized stainless rivets. Drill through the flange and drum (1/8" drill and rivets, short shank). Pop into place. Forget the epoxy if you can get enough rivets into it. Your retailer should be able to show you how to use this simple and versitile tool. Check your warranty first. You may be covered if you have'nt "made any alterations" to it yet.

might be that the hardware that is attaching the tine to the drum is loose ...if the back is accessible.. the back of the drum would , might be , highly visible..maybe each tine has 2 screws securing it in place and you've got only one screw loose..?

opps..lol.. can you hear the other screw " bouncing " around when dryer in operation?

in all seriousness, hope this helps...

Thank you both very much - looking into the warranty. I am flattered you think I could do all this other stuff!

A self drilling/tapping sheet metal screw is what I used.

M.A. get a putty knife and push in at the two front corners this will allow you to lift the top of the dryer then rotate the drum so you can access the screws holding the paddles to the drum.

Thank you. Do I have to take off the front too?

It appears the front should come off and it will but the best access is from the rear
