Start-Stop Driving Technologies

Looking at driving condition in India, the start-stop technology seems ideal for better fuel efficiency and lesser emissions. But I wonder why this technology has not come fully yet in India. What are the bottlenecks and challenges? How about retrofitting this technology into existing four wheelers and two wheelers as well. Is there any retrofit services available ( on similar lines of CNG retrofits)?

Could be.......if you look at closely, there is nothing hi-tech with this solution ( even now)...but my question was more from Indian industry and market context

pls forgive my ignorance. i am curious to know what is start-stop technology. being from banaglore india, i am too familiar with vehicle driving conditions in one of the most congested traffic situation
