My question is this ,in ht cable why we use the simiconductor .please explain me in detail. i will thanks of this kind less

BY using semicon layer over the conductor and insulation of HT cable, the electrical discharges are reduced. Also it is required to have equipotential surface over the conductor for beter insulation grading.
