Hello S2,

No problem, the most common joints I have seen the kerosene tests carried out on are fillet joints on storage tanks where the shell conects to the base.

Hello Mr David,

I have seen your recomendations about kerosene testing of tanks.

My question is; can we do this test on cooling jacket of compressor cylinder. İs it moore sensitive than hyrostatic test at 6 kg/cm.

Cylinder material is BS 1452 Gr 17 gray cast iron, thickness is 40 mm.

For API storage tanks a minimum of 4hrs is required to allow wicking of the kerosene.

Large leaks can be found within 30mins very small leaks will require the 4hr wick time, repairs should be made and those areas retested in the same manner.
