Koken Barber Chair Problem - Bad Hydraulic Cylinder?

05/21/2009 3:42 PM

I Bought a Koken barber chair, the guy said it worked great a few years ago... It wouldn't pump up so I put some fluid in it. It pumped right up then but I don't know how to get it to go back down. I have disassembled it down to the cylinder and don't see how to release the fluid so the chair will return to the ground... the cylinder has an end cap on it at the base, do I need to take that off to find the problem????? If anybody has any knowledge let me know .......... thanks

God, I gotta remember back almost 50 years for that. I'm not sure 100%, but the guy would take the handle to an intermediate position (maybe halfway??) and pump(?) it. I didn't pay much attention, and I haven't been in a barber shop for many years, let alone one with one of those. Give that a try.

push the pump handle right down as hard as you can while sitting on the chair.. you need to allow the air out of the cylinder, cheers andrew
