Welding Filler Wire (308L and 309L)

05/23/2009 7:33 AM

Here I'm a welding engineer In a pressure vessel mfg. organization ,INDIA , welding sheet metals are SS304 & SS409 & gone through Plasma Arc Welding by Filler wire ER308L & ER309L respectively..we've seen ER 308L spool is magnetic in nature.. and wire spool of ER 309L is in non magnetic in nature also ER 309L is obey the nature of austenitic S.S.. BUT 308L WIRE SPOOL shows contary to the austenitic nature…

So is there any resonable explanation why ER308L spool shows magnetic in nature..???
