Speed idle problem with 2000 Avalon

05/24/2009 12:58 PM

Hi speed idle problem on my 2000 Avalon. Hot water is circulating through carb so not sure of problem. Any easy fixes? This is an electronic unit, so adjustment is not part of the solution ?

Go to Auto-Zone, put code reader on and tell ECM season has changed set for summer.

Thanks. Sounds like a good starting point.

This can be caused by a vacuum leak at or around the intake manifold. Look for a hose off or broken or chewed though by some varmit.

If the car has an idle control motor, and is stuck open, this too will give you a high idle.
