How do you ascertain key security standards that apply to products in all sorts of tech categories?

Can't tell where your link was supposed to go, but something went awry.

Taking the question on face value - I recommend it starts with the competitive standards of the given industry.

For that you have some homework to do - each *type* product will have different ones and I don't think I have ever seen the aggregated anywhere.

For networking, wireless, and TCP/IP try here.

A lot of the actual references, should you want to know *about* the various standards instead of just naming them, try the library. They frequently have pubs I cannot afford to subscribe to.
