Harmonic Analysis with 12-Pulse Rectifier

06/03/2009 9:38 AM

This is a 12 pulse thyristor rectifier matlab model. I am trying to do harmonic analysis of the supply converter to size the dc link choke. the transformer is a Dd0-yn11 phase shifter with 6.9% imp, 3.5MVA, 11kv/800v. Please could you tell me how should i consider the load as the output will be fed into the inverter. the harmonic spectrum as seen from the powergui is not showing expected harmonics i.e(12n+1, 12n-1 etc ).

what are the important things to be considered for simulating such a circuit.

many thanks

I have looked at your post history and have got to ask, but is this a homework assignment (specifically a second or third year power engineering lab exercise or project)?

12n+1, 12n-1 harmonics will be generated in 12 pulse rectifier set. But, from Drawing It looks it is 6 pulse Rectifier & that is also not at equal phase angle difference.

Vector group of transformer must generate all six pulse at 60 degree appart. So Transformer should be Dd0y6 or Dd5y11.

That may be the reason, you are not getting 12n+1, 12n-1. And you will not get spectrum of similar to 6 pulse also.

Are you missing something?

Can you tell me what is PowerGui?

this is a 12 pulse rect which consists of 2 6pulse rectifiers connected in series. i have used phase shift transformer which helps in producing smooth dc volts and current.

powergui is something we use for analysing circuit signals for simpower systems in matlab.
