Chiral Photonics, an 11 year old company is offering turnkey 1,000C fiber grating point temperature sensing capability easily integrated in to control automation capability OR as standalone use in harsh environmental applications from welding systems, furnaces to Nuclear and aviation environments. Unlike conventional UV written gratings on photosensitive glasses, the patented, tightly process controlled and automated Chiral Photonics HTS1000 "mechanically" microformed gratings are as robust as the glasses themselves they are made from. The sensor world is both excited and curious to use such capability and has been waiting for complete system solution of the sensor + interrogator. As of this week, Chiral Photonics is able to provide a complete system solution and ship turnkey. The standard off the shelf sensors physically look like thermocouples, and are implemented similarly.
In terms of durability and reliability, we have high confidence based from our own internal testing in our labs as well as initial customer feedback that these fiber sensors are expected to operate much longer than thermocouples with comparable accuracy. We are seeing well over 2,500 hours of cycling testing time without any degradation while our thermocouples are degrading to failure at much, much shorter intervals.
