Preventing the Poles from Melting

06/08/2009 9:25 AM

I worked out that if only 25 million people donate their refrigerators, and put 1/2 of them around each pole, and then ran extensions cords to the nearest coal fired power station, and then turned all the refrigerators on full and left the doors open on them, then that would refreeze the poles in no time and global warming would come to an end.

What do you think?

Do you have a better plan?

Jammit,

Are you trying to hasten the start of another Ice Age?

I think you are violating a law of thermodynamics - the heat from the fridge condenser/compressor will be greater than the cooling from the inside.

What about a fridge having evaporator coils at poles and condenser in OP's own country? specially if OP is from colder country.

Great idea! BTW, Aurora Borealis would be replaced by the ghostly glowing of zillions refrigerators being deployed with their doors wide open, and polar bears would come to extinction due to insomnia!

Dude, you've got too much time on your hands.

But I do like that you think outside the box,way outside the box.
