Looking for the Right Solenoid Valve

06/08/2009 4:25 PM

I have an automation application where I need to switch between a mild vacuum and atmosphere rapidly with an inlet of about 1 inch (round). The vacuum is generated by a blower (not a vacuum pump).

I have searched the usual MAC, Danfoss, and other valve offerings only to be disappointed by the ratings (i.e. number of cycles - life expenctancy, etc.)

I am using a 24VDC control system to actuate this valve for up to 200mSec at a rate of 4 times per second. I need it to be able to operate reliably well over a million cycles.

I have been using a MAC valve for the short term, but it is not rated for this kind of duty. Actually it seems to be working fairly well, but it uses pilot air and is probably a bit slower that I would like. Any suggestions?

Try looking into Ingersoll Rand's ARO brand of pneumatic valves. You could also try Clippard, and Versa valves. I have used old automotive emission valves. But they were 12 volt DC. Good luck.
