Animation thru Powerpoint 2003

The MicroSoft website has a Power Point section with numerous links to free tutorials on using the animation features.

animations are limited in powerpoint, and mostly applies only to texts and slides. you can be creative, daring and patient and apply it to graphics, as well, but it is cumbersome to use them and hence ineffective especially when done on long sequence of graphic animations (your audience will think you have too much free time on your hands ).

Thanks mr. Langyaw for sending me the links. In these sites, general usage of animation schemes is explained. ( of course, i have yet to go thoroughly ) But what i am looking for is creation of animations like movement of a cylinder with required linkages etc. For this first objects are to be created then their movements in different directions-linear or rotary to be created.

I hope I am clear.

if you really intend to animate your cylinder with PP, then 2 approaches can be done here:

1. copy and paste the image in different spots in succeeding slides. as you "flip" through the slides, the cylinder will appear to move in a linear direction, or rotate, as you also post rotating images of the cylinder in the succeeding slides. or,
2. you can paste the images in one slide, but assign an animation sequence for each image, such as the first image "appears" then disappears, only for the second image to appear and disappear, so on and so forth. this will create the illusion of movement, as well.

For this kind of issue, I normally make 3D drawings in Auto CAD, and then I export this file to 3DStudioMax for to make animation. The trick here is to make any part in a different layer that manner to can move any part separated. At the end of the job, export your file in AVI format. Open the Power Point and INSERT the animation in one slide. Power Point is able to open this animation in two different manners: immediately after the slide is presented, automatically or when the picture of your animation is clicked. 3DstudioMax and Auto CAD have many sites with tutorials.
