AC Duty Category

What is AC current duty category? and please explain why manufactures use AC21/AC22/AC23?

The AC category relates to different types of loads and what the contactor contacts are rated at when switching these specific loads.

From the IEC standard.........

AC-21 - Switching of resistive loads, including moderate loads

AC-22 - Switching of mixed resistive & inductive loads, including moderate overloads

AC-23 - Switching of motor loads or other highly inductive loads
