Water Source Heat Pump Hose Kit

It is my understanding that the heat exchangers on water source heat pumps need to be UL rated. With that in mind, why aren't the hose kits also required to be UL rated? Or, are they? I see most kits claim to be "fire rated" that's not the same as having a UL rating.

Could it be because the UL rating applies on final assembled products? The kit manufacturer has no way to assure if the final kit installation will comply with the requirements. I think its just because it does not apply to just a set of parts of some final product.

I was wondering if it is because the UL rating applied to electrical components. The heat exchanger is a component of the final product just as the hose kit is.

Most kits say they are "fire rated", whatever that means. There is only one that actually has the UL 94 rating on it.
