I usually find all I need first by going to wiki, then sliding down to online references.

In this case wiki has a module on basics with a study guide.

When I've run through such, then I start digging into the usual reference lists from wiki.

What kind of optics are you looking for? What is your background level?

I know a lot but my lack of practical skills prevents me from calculating even the simplest system.

I don't know how to trace rays through components and can't find which is the limiting diaphragm of the system...or was it called aperture diaphragm...not a native speaker+ new to the terminology
