Brazil is outperforming Florida's orange industry, because of our high labor cost in picking - ladder and shoulder bags. The few "tree shakers" are clumsy, not very efficient and not economical to operate.
World Wide Inventions Inc., of Sarasota, Florida, has designed a compact and utilitarian, golf cart sized, boom hoist picker for small groves. It has a chute that directs the fruit not into a shoulder bag, but right into the field box. While Detroit was pumping out the big gus guzzlers, Japan was quietly flooding the market with compacts!
Besides fruit harvesting, with a small adjustment, it becomes an overhead loader, hoisting shindles to a roof, or warehouse shelf loading. We need working capital and management personnel.
