Get a motor with a 90 degree right angle gear reducer. Any major supplier should have them.

What is the ratio and the diameters you are looking at?

-Low ratio and minimum space- bevel

- Medium ratio, a bit larger space - Bevel+planetary or Worm

- Large ratio+small space - bevel+ two or more stages planetary

- large ratio, large space, less cost - rack and pinion.
