i like to take tests just for the fun of it,, and recently took one that had a question, that i found puzzling,, and dont seem to make sense,, so i thought id pass it on to you for a thought,,
the question was" if you have 2 points- a,, and b,, and 2 cars, (trucks, what ever you like) ,, if both cars start at the same time, the first car does 30mph to point b, and then 10 mph back to point a, then, the second car does 20 mph to point b,, and 20 back to point a,, 1) does the first car get back first, 2) the second car get back first, 3) they bot get back at the same time,,
ok,, taking that you only have 1.5 minutes to answer, looking at this, you average the 30 and 10 out for a 20 mph so you would think the both get back at the same time,, not so!!! if you are fast enough to set up a sample and try it in the 1.5 minutes,, you would probably use the remaining time up scratching you head,, but ,, for simple math set the distance from a,, to b,, at 60 miles,, if you do the math the first car takes 8 hrs to get there and back,, but the second car does it in only 6 ,, what you say,, 2 hrs less,, but ,,, the first cars average speed is 20,, its the same distance,, whats up??? ok,, set up a different distance,, humm still the same results,,,
so for you people out there that like the brain teasers,, here's one to get your co-workers scratching, or that "huh pupy look",,,(you know the tilt of the head and the glazed eyes), have a great day, and make it fun!
