Hipot Value for Medium Voltage Cables

I am looking for the Hi-pot value for testing used shielded cables 2.4KV

Standard..... 2 times voltage plus 10 %. Works for all cables.

Is that the NETA standard and does that apply to old cables (20 years or so).

Nah, just something picked up in the mine when we moved cables around. These were used cables and the insulation value was 133%. We would multiply the voltage (25kV) by 1.33 then 2 then add the 10%. The voltage was not the biggest concern but the leakage current. If I remember correctly the current had to below 100μA-150μA for 15 minutes (maybe mA???). It would take quite a bit of time to work up to this high voltage as the cable would have to be charged without tripping out the over current relay. Very important to have the cables disconnected from the buss work and have anti corona discharge covers installed. We used new Glad® green garbage bags.
