As per ASME Code, VIII, Div.1, Para. UG-100 Pneumatic Test, a pneumatic test may be used in lieu of the standard hydrostatic test as described in UG-99 for vessels only when:

1. that are so designed and/or supported that they cannot safely be filled with water;

2. not readily dried, that are to be used in services where traces of the testing liquid cannot be tolerated and the parts of which have, where possible, been previously tested by hydrostatic pressure to the pressure required in UG-99.

Those the only executions, and therefore, I think you have to repeat the hydrostatic test.

Actually, The vessel is under 'U' stamp and completed PWHT & Hydro test. Now vessel is comes under repair work due to the missed out some details in side the vessel ( Like internal rungs for Man way , and some pad attachments in side the vessel)

After completion of all repair work whether we have to go for re hydro test as per the code?

As per my understanding, we are not doing any Full Penetrate welding, it is just fillet weld only, so local SR is sufficient with DP test, if fillet size is exceeds 6mm.

My doubt is..... it is mandatory to conduct Re-hydro test as per the code ( ASME Sec.VIII Div.1) ? if it is mandatory means where it is mentioned in the code?

No there is no need to do ReHydro, if it is not full penetration joint, moreover you can proceed with Local PWHT

Hello hari.k,

Good answer from Abdel!

You could also check some of these sites out, some of which deal with the request you ask, that is welded parts inside a pressure vessel?
