Excitation System

07/26/2009 6:56 PM

Hi All,

There seem to be an unfounded problem in the excitation system of a 15 MW Generator (Type: Rade Koncar). The generator cannot be loaded over 9.0 MW because the First & Second Thyristor Bridge Fault is energized and the machine trips.

Does any one know where I can find resources for Rade Koncar Generator and what could be the possible cause of this problem?

Thanks

Saida

The problem is in the excitation circuit. Possible reasons are

(a) Current limiting set point of thyristor bridge seems to have got disturbed.

(b) Feedback signal in the thyristor bridge control circuit ( voltage as well as current ) may have got disturbed due to which it is not able to give enough feedback to maintain sufficient excitation required for the given power output .

Check the equipment manual.

Thanks and regards

Dear Saida

I donot know about RADE KONCAR, but they should have given the manual with the equipment itself. Alternatively give a google or yahoo search.

Thanks and regards
